Swift Relief for Typhoon Carina Victims
In response to the devastating impact of Super Typhoon Carina, ₱10 million was allocated by the BingoPlus Foundation to support families and individuals in Metro Manila and across Luzon. Relief efforts began immediately, underscoring BingoPlus Foundation’s rapid response and dedication to supporting Filipinos during natural disasters.
Strategic Partnerships for Greater Impact
What began as an ₱8 million commitment grew to ₱10 million, thanks to a collaborative effort between the BingoPlus Foundation and Cornerstone, announced at the close of the carnival. This partnership showcases how alliances between private sector players can yield amplified benefits for communities in need.
Promoting Digital Inclusion Through Livelihood Training
In line with its vision for digital empowerment, the Foundation donated ₱1.5 million to establish a PLUS e-Center for Livelihood and Technology at the DSWD Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center II. This state-of-the-art facility includes digital training tools such as computers equipped with accessibility software, along with printing machines for hands-on design learning. Over 150 trainees—many of whom are persons with disabilities (PWDs)—will benefit from increased access to digital skills training, unlocking future-ready employment opportunities.
“This initiative boosts our clients’ confidence and prepares them for productivity and independence,” said Juanito C. Cantero, DSWD Region VII Assistant Regional Director.
Building Hope Through Adaptive Sports and Rehabilitation
Another ₱2 million donation was granted to Philippine Accessible Disability Services Inc. (PADS) for the development of a PLUS Center for Adaptive Sports and Physical Rehabilitation. This center will offer free, high-quality rehabilitation for indigent PWDs and individuals recovering from physical injuries. Partnering with the Mandaue LGU and Cebu-based medical institutions, the project also supports sports inclusion and workforce re-entry for PWDs.
Ensuring Access to Safe Water in Dumanjug
The Foundation also extended ₱1.5 million to the Municipality of Dumanjug, enabling the installation of rainwater catchment tanks and clean water filtration systems in 11 barangays. This crucial intervention supports public health and disaster preparedness, particularly in remote areas vulnerable to disease outbreaks after typhoons.
“This donation is timely and life-saving,” said Dr. Reynilee Christine Cabilin, Head of Dumanjug’s Municipal Health Office.
