BingoPlus Foundation Deploys Earthquake Relief to Cebu

CEBU CITY — In response to the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Cebu and nearby provinces on September 30, 2025, DigiPlus Interactive Corp., through its social development arm BingoPlus Foundation, swiftly mobilized relief operations for the hardest-hit communities in the province’s northern corridor.

On October 5, 2025, the Foundation distributed 1,000 family relief packs to affected residents in the municipalities of Daanbantayan and Medellin, made possible by BingoPlus employee volunteers from Cebu-based branches.

Immediate Relief for Communities Most in Need

Each family pack contained:

  • 10 liters of potable water in reusable containers
  • 5 kilograms of rice
  • Hygiene kit
  • Basic medicine

The deployment supported approximately 1,000 households or 5,000 individuals, prioritizing communities that had yet to receive adequate external aid.

Relief goods were prepared from the DigiPlus warehouse in Parañaque and delivered within three days of the quake—highlighting the organization’s logistical readiness and rapid emergency coordination.

Rain or shine, night or day - 1,000 relief packs were delivered to earthquake-affected families in Daanbantayan and Medellin municipalities through the efforts of BingoPlus employee volunteers and LGU partners.

Guided by Local Needs on the Ground

These are communities that need swift, reliable help,” said Paul Henczen Tamayo, Program Manager for Resilience and Healthcare of BingoPlus Foundation. “Through our BayanihanPlus initiative, we work with local leaders to reach underserved areas fast and responsibly.”

According to Dan Kemuel Mabano, BingoPlus Area Manager for Cebu, “Initial assessment led us to Bogo and San Remigio, but ground reports showed that Medellin and Daanbantayan still needed support, so we extended our deployment farther north.”

Employee volunteers from Cebu-based BingoPlus branches supported distribution and on-ground coordination, leveraging DigiPlus’ local presence to respond quickly to disaster-affected communities.

Employee Volunteers Lead Local Response

BingoPlus employee volunteers from Cebu City, Mandaue, and Talisay personally assisted in last-mile distribution and on-ground coordination, ensuring help reached households despite transport congestion and repeated aftershocks.

“It was challenging to bring relief into the northernmost barangays, but teamwork made it possible,” shared Judaline Geraldez, Branch Manager of BingoPlus Park Mall and lead volunteer. “Daghang salamat to our colleagues, LGU partners, and community leaders.”

A Continuing Commitment to Crisis Response

This deployment reflects the ongoing commitment of DigiPlus and BingoPlus Foundation to stand with Filipino communities during disasters—leveraging its nationwide retail footprint to deliver emergency assistance quickly and reliably.

The Foundation continues to monitor the evolving situation and is coordinating next-phase support with local government units and partner agencies.
