As part of its mission to promote inclusive development, BingoPlus Foundation, the social impact arm of DigiPlus Interactive, has rolled out critical community health and livelihood initiatives in General Santos City under its flagship programs KalusuganPLUS and KabuhayanPLUS.
These programs reflect the Foundation’s dual commitment to improving access to essential health services and empowering communities with sustainable income opportunities—a promise that’s being fulfilled through on-ground, grassroots action.
Clean Sanitation Access for 3,000 Residents
In a significant milestone for local public health, BingoPlus Foundation turned over five newly constructed sanitation facilities in September 2024. The facilities are located across Barangays San Isidro, Ligaya, Tinagacan, Calumpang, and Bawing, serving an estimated 3,000 residents.
The barangay of Bawing, home to Badjao communities, is one of the main beneficiaries, helping to close long-standing gaps in clean water and sanitation access for vulnerable groups.
This initiative supports the Philippine Approach to Total Sanitation (PhATS) and the Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) campaign, addressing hygiene concerns and helping to prevent the spread of waterborne illnesses—especially vital in regions like SOCCSKSARGEN, where only 73.8% of households have access to basic sanitation, as reported by the Philippine Statistics Authority.
“These facilities are more than structures—they represent dignity, health, and a future free from preventable disease,” said a local barangay official.
Livelihood Training Center Celebrates First Graduates
In a powerful display of community upliftment, BingoPlus Foundation celebrated the graduation of the first batch of dressmaking trainees from its Tailoring Training Center in Barangay San Isidro. The center, which opened in June, is now training its second batch, with applications open for Batch 3.
This center is part of the PLUS Centers for Livelihood network and operates in partnership with TESDA, offering NC II Certification in Dressmaking. Most participants are solo parents and women, many of whom are seeking alternative income streams and pathways to entrepreneurship.
By building relevant skills and certifying participants, the program offers a lifeline for employment and microbusiness creation—helping boost economic resilience in local households.
“Our goal isn’t just to provide aid,” said Celeste Jovenir, DigiPlus VP for Investor Relations and COO of BingoPlus Foundation.
“We’re here to transform lives through long-term empowerment—from sanitation to skills training, we want every community we touch to feel a renewed sense of hope and opportunity.”
BingoPlus Foundation continues to expand its reach, with a CSR budget now exceeding ₱100 million dedicated to social impact projects across the country. Through KalusuganPLUS and KabuhayanPLUS, the Foundation is building not just infrastructure—but a future where every Filipino has access to clean water, sustainable livelihoods, and a brighter tomorrow.
